Straub

Straub By EduardoCindino@aol.com

Straub was one of the most evil and dangerous men the companions have ever met.

AppearanceEdit

Straub was in his early fifties, a shade over six feet tall, and lean of build. He had unnaturally smooth skin, a shaven head, and dark brown eyes that, if one looked into them, appeared to be black with whirling silver flecks. He always dressed in black and never carried a blaster, but had an ivory-handled straight razor tucked into a sheath down the back of his neck.

He had some mutie blood, which presented itself in his forked tongue and psychic powers of mind-reading and coercion. He was most well-known for being able to hypnotize people and make them do or believe whatever he wanted, simply by using his silver amulet and his power.

BackgroundEdit

The companions first encountered Straub when he was leading a band of brushwooders in California; he planned to take over a nearby ville (which the companions had no interest in), but after he tried to kill Jak and Krysty for their hair, they fled to the ville, warned the baron, and foiled the attack. They fled back to the redoubt, but Trader and Abe remained behind and were presumably killed by Straub and the remainder of his men. (Shadowfall)

The final time the companions encountered him, he had been captured by a tribe of muddies. They freed him and found out that he was thrall to Countess Katya Beausoleil, so they decided to return him to her - both for the reward he said she would grant and so they could find out the final fate of Trader and Abe. He pretended not to remember anything, but taunted them with snippets of memory he claimed to have without ever giving them a definitive answer.

Straub hypnotized Ryan so that Katya could seduce him, then showed him a vision where all of his companions were dead. Once Ryan was in Katya's hands, Straub went out to make the visions real, starting with Doc, but Doc shot him before he could do so (Circle Thrice).

WeaponsEdit

He never carried a blaster, but had an ivory-handled straight razor tucked into a sheath down the back of his neck.
